The atelier

More than two thousand precise hand stitches can go into a single Francisco Barri handbag. In his atelier in Mexico, every piece of leather is meticulously cut, shaped and finished by hand, from the first pattern to the final edge.

The materials

Each handbag begins with Barri's exacting choice of leather, from tanneries in France, Italy and Germany, each selected for the way it holds a form and ages. Interiors are lined in goatskin from the Alran tannery in France.

The details

Every seam is saddle-stitched with two needles and French linen thread. Edges are finished, hardware is set and each structure is shaped by hand, to preserve the intended form and proportions of each design.
