THE BARRI LEGACY

Long before there was the house of Francisco Barri, there was a family of artisans in Tampico, the port city on Mexico’s Gulf coast. From the 1950s, the family made their living by hand, passing down a respect for materials and a patience that no machine can replace. Francisco Barri is heir to that culture of working by hand, respect for materials and patience in craftsmanship, values he now carries into fine leather goods.

THE BEGINNING

His mother, Magdalena Castillo, was his first teacher and mentor. From her, Francisco learned that working by hand is a way of understanding life, and that mastery comes only through patience and daily practice.

THE FOURTH GENERATION

The light and neoclassical façades of Tampico were his first school of design, giving him a lifelong eye for proportion and symmetry. He made his first handbags alongside his mother, and today the Madeleine carries her name: a tribute to the woman who inspired it all, its flowing lines shaped by the sea of their home.

THE ARTISANS

The respect for working by hand, patience and dedication that Francisco inherited from his family guide the artisans who make each piece today. Every seam is saddle-stitched by hand, because in this house, time and skill matter more than speed.

EXCEPTIONAL CREATIONS

The house's most ambitious pieces, each one a work of art, carry Mexico's artistic heritage into hand embroidery, crystals and precious stones.
